First thing's first, you need to check what resolution you're running your monitors at. Most internet users are using monitors with resolutions of 1024 x 768 or higher.
Find your Resolution:
In windows, right click the desktop and click on either 'properties' or 'screen resolution' depending on which version of windows you have. In these options you will find the current resolution you are using. If you click the drop-down menu and find that your monitor goes to a higher resolution than you're currently using, switch to it. Higher resolutions give more detail and generally look a lot clearer.
Now if you've got your resolution you need to find a suitable desktop wallpaper to fit that resolution. Using an image of equal resolution or higher than your settings will make sure the image doesn't lose any quality or have any black areas around it.
double monitors and triple monitors resolution:
If you are one of the lucky ones who uses multiple computer monitors, then you will want to find an appropriate desktop wallpaper that will fit accross both (or all three) of your monitors. If you ave two 1024 x 768 monitors, then you want to find an image of resolution 2056 x 768 or greater, for it to look good accross all of your available screen space. You just take the first larger number in your resolution and multiply it by how many monitors you have.
Where to find desktop wallpapers for double screen and triple screen monitors?:
I use a great site which cateres for all numbers of desktop resolutions. Has some really nice artwork, all user submitted and freely available to use.
